6 November 2012 Meeting

Here’s what we did in meeting this week…

We are officially pushing our frisbee golf tournament to next semester. Look for updates then.

We had some concerns with the policy change with the first-year visitation policy and how to make a smooth transition between having a policy first semester to not having one second semester. We brainstormed that we could make sure the residence life staff facilitates conversation between residents and is a resource for conflict resolution if needed. Although policy enforcement isn’t our duty, we did change the policy so we want to see those affected by it flourish.

We would like to offer some sort of trivia event for students similar to the one CUA has been doing, but we would like to fill a different niche. If you have suggestions for us, we’d love to hear them. Look for these events in the spring.

We’ll be facilitating Doniphan-Kresse nominations and voting over the next few weeks. Nominations are Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week and voting will be after Thanksgiving break. If you are a senior, come and nominate your friends!

KC and Liberty: pursuing Title Boxing Class, tours of Boulevard Brewing Company, and Ice Skating at Crowne Center.

Spirit: we’re working on getting our Cardinal mascot to make some appearances at events around campus, look for it! We’ll also be giving out some shirts at Jewell time on Friday and at the football game on Saturday!

Communication: The senate banner is up in the union. Look for updates on current Jewell events on it!

Housing: the senior house kitchen has been thoroughly cleaned and some cooking utensils have been replaced. The drainage problem in Browning has been fixed.

Sustainability: we are not going to be able to get you discounts when you use your own cups in the Perch but we are looking into getting some better looking reusable mugs for the perch. We will be asking your opinion soon on what sort of mugs you would want.

Student Life: we have made sure that hand sanitizers have been installed throughout campus.
